Key Avenue Blues

Craig Larkin I got Curvy Lean lodged firmly inside my brain, then I was lifted away by the percussion on 6' 6, then out of nowhere I was outside of my body looking in listening to Interquaalude's straight up vibez.

Then I was holidaying inside the delicious wordsmithery on Heard My Door Go, and then just as my life was beginning to unfurl into itself, I found myself floating back down to earth in the arms of Jay Azlan and Mazrah soaking in Consanguine. Smashed it sir, may many bins be kicked in your honour. Favorite track: 6' 6.

about

Rooted records are proud to present to you our first release of 2018; from our long-time resident lion Jay Azlan, the Key Avenue Blues EP.

It bumps onto the scene like some blues-hop bunyip in psyche-tropic dream goggles, swinging from tree to tree in a forest of flavours far flung and lush. Lyrics blurring the abstract and casual lope across worldly melodies and shifting textures, while outernational rhythms keep the tracks hopping down their wonky trail. Between footsteps a collage of field recordings transport you to the green and grey linings of Bristol's hidden stashpockets.

Part love letter to that city and the spicy fruit living there, part experiment in plant-based palette aesthetics, part anti-gravity doodle, this cat's debut has been a long time coming, and we're pretty chuffed to be the ones to share it with you. One for the urban tribe to go native to- and vice versa. So dig in!

100% of the proceeds from this release will be given to Tree Sisters & Centrepoint charities, towards reforestation, rehousing and rewilding our planet.
