Formulated in a couple autumnal months living in a small flat in Stokes Croft, Bristol, Osirus’ Venture EP is the soundtrack to dropping out of university. The loose, lazy feel of the beats is characteristic of that creative slump as deadlines drifted past; spaciousness and unfocused gravity. Raised from a young age on a diet of trip-hop and neo-soul, it is easy to see how education slipped out the window in favour of a passionate gravitation to music.

Bumping away at some transatlantic intersection between US Dilla swing and the clean jazz influence of the contemporary UK beat scene, Venture EP manages to strike a rare balance between crisp production and lushly kaleidoscopic ambience. Cosmic textures swirl away behind tight-knit chord progressions and taut drums, while spacious basslines groove at submerged depths. Having already gathered praise and interest from the likes of Black Josh amongst others, this is the work of an emerging artist coming into the prime of his craft.
