Originally dubbed 'The Cress Chronicles' for reasons unknown, 'Bruised Wings' is a project that has been bubbling from the depths of Jazz Corner since 2018.

Amidst the glass shattering, wave breaking, stargazing grooves of Bruised Wings, there is an audible simplicity present: the sound of best friends making art together. What could be more beautiful than that? The relationship between producer and poet is apparent throughout this musical journey - with the words and sounds merging to create a raw, intimate magic.

Maya's heartfelt storytelling takes the listener on a journey through the tender turbulence of womanhood; self-discovery, friendship, love-making and heartbreaking, sound-tracked perfectly by the abstract and beautiful beats of producer Halloomi.

Since this project began, Maya has grown to be an integral part of Bristol's spoken word scene and so we feel blessed to be the ones sharing her debut EP with you all.

So sit back, relax, maybe grab a bowl of cress to nibble on, and enjoy!
